MARIS Privacy Policy
EES operates MARIS, a business-to-business platform for shipowners and operators. This policy explains how EES processes personal information in the MARIS mobile application and related services.
1. Business accounts and purpose of processing
MARIS does not offer self-service account creation in the mobile application. EES or an administrator of a contracted customer creates and manages business accounts through MARIS Web and provides sign-in details to authorised users by email. We use account and service information to authenticate users, apply company and vessel permissions, provide vessel-operation and environmental-compliance services, secure the service, and respond to support requests.
2. Information we process
Depending on the contracted service, this may include user ID, user name, company and assigned-vessel information, access permissions, sign-in and service-use records, IP address, device and operating-system information, application version, diagnostics, vessel position data, operational reports, fuel-consumption data, and environmental-compliance data. MARIS does not request or access the device GPS location, contacts, photos, or files. Vessel positions shown on the map are service data supplied by MARIS systems and are not the user's device location.
3. External services, maps, and weather cache
MARIS uses Mapbox to display maps. Mapbox may process technical and map-usage information required to provide and improve its map service. The Mapbox attribution control remains available on the map and provides the applicable telemetry opt-out path. MARIS also obtains weather and map resources from its service providers. To improve availability, the application may store selected weather resources in its local cache and may refresh that cache only when the operating system permits it on an unmetered network with battery and storage safeguards.
4. Retention and protection
EES retains personal information only for the period needed for the purposes above, applicable law, contractual obligations, security, and business-record requirements. Account, access, diagnostic, and support records may be retained for up to three years where required for these purposes. Vessel-operation and compliance records can be retained after an individual account is removed when legal, contractual, or operational obligations require it. EES uses access controls, authentication, encrypted communications, and security reviews to protect information.
5. Your requests
Because MARIS accounts are issued to contracted organisations, account changes, termination, and data requests may require confirmation from the relevant company administrator. To request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or account termination, use the MARIS Account and Data Requests page or contact EES.
